Suitcase n°1 (Minister of the Interior - May 30, 2006) Photographs and stamps made with the fingerprints of Nicolas Sarkozy.

Briefcase No.1 is the outcome of an action undertaken in May 2006, during which Julien Prévieux obtained the fingerprints of France’s Minister for the Interior. Converted into rubber stamps, the prints could then be reproduced ad infinitum, in a hacker-style confiscation of such official control methods as unauthorized seizure, storage and wrongful use of data. In thus suggesting concrete steps that can be taken, the artist reverses the balance of power and jeopardizes the reliability of the system.
