This year marks the eighth edition of the Onze Ambassade Festival. We are once again celebrating the opening of the cultural season with a diverse festival. The programme brings together different art forms and offers a glimpse of West’s upcoming programme. In the building designed by Marcel Breuer, originally used as the American Embassy, you can spend an evening listening to leading experimental music and exploring exhibitions by international contemporary artists.

The Onze Ambassade Festival brings together artists and musicians from the Netherlands and abroad. In the former office spaces, West Den Haag presents the exhibition ‘Textura’, bringing together different moments within West’s programme. Some artists previously presented at West return in a new constellation, including Florian Hecker’s work at the intersection of electronics, music and performance, and the critical perspective of Josh Kline. New voices, such as interdisciplinary artist Sondra Perry, are introduced as part of the project and will be explored more extensively in the future.

In the Alphabetum, the new exhibition ‘In the babbler / that lives I demand to be inscribed’ explores the work of Italian poet and musicologist Amelia Rosselli. Inscription is examined through manuscripts, typescripts, annotated books and sound recordings. Poetic form is inseparably connected to sound. The exhibition is curated by publisher Zero Sharp and Andrea di Serego Alighieri.

The musical programme, curated by Alex Andropoulos, brings a unique international selection of groundbreaking artists to The Hague. The programme features live performances by Bòsc, c_c and Riccardo La Foresta among others. From experimental compositions to invigorating percussion and layered electronics, the auditorium, basement and Alphabetum of the embassy will be filled with unique sounds.

The festival not only marks the beginning of a new cultural season, but also highlights the role of interdisciplinary art as a space for encounter, reflection and imagination.
