‘Apinti: The Talking Drum of the Maroons’ is a multimedia book that gives voice to the rich culture and history of the Surinamese Maroons. Written and illustrated by André, Georgio, Simba, and Susi Mosis — an artistic and intellectual collective — the book tells the story of the ‘talking drum,’ an instrument that for centuries was used to communicate, connect, and liberate.

An evening filled with stories, music, and encounters, bringing the heritage and culture of the Maroons to life. The program concludes with a performance by an Apinti ensemble.

The Mosis family warmly invites you to celebrate the book launch with them after the official program, featuring an exhibition and live music. It promises to be a special evening!
